Change for Kids was established in 1996 to collect and fund supplies for public elementary schools. In 2009, CFK expanded its mission to provide literacy, arts, health, and other essential programs that help set students on the path to a brighter future.
Today, Change for Kids is focusing its efforts on engaging children early in their educational careers so that they can stay on track academically. Change for Kids on-site school managers, in partnership with principals and teachers, create impact in three distinct areas – academic achievement, social-emotional learning, and citywide community engagement. By bringing critical resources to NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities, the thousands of students we serve develop the social-emotional and academic skills they need to be prepared for middle school and beyond.
Currently, we serve over 4,500 students at 12 partner schools in all five NYC boroughs with the goal of expanding to 30 partner schools by 2021.
