Located in the neighborhood of Mott Haven in the South Bronx, P.S. 277’s mission is to provide an inclusive learning environment that inspires academic excellence and promotes self-confidence and independence. Change for Kids is proud to support P.S. 277 in pursuit of its vision to “nourish, strengthen and empower the character, mind and voice of our children in order to cultivate future leaders and thinkers in our school, in our community, and in our world. Early Childhood Music: Music fundamentals, plus skill-based vocal and instrumental instruction provided by Third Street Music School Settlement for all students in PreK and kindergarten

Museum Residency: Arts instruction and experiences for students in second grade through our partnership with the Children’s Museum of the Arts

CityParks Learning Gardens: Garden-based learning for all second grade students

Parent Workshops: Held throughout the year to support parent engagement and education

Urban Golf: Golf lessons for students that integrate physical, social, cultural and academic concepts

Leadership Support

School Manager: CFK staff member working on the ground at the school to develop and maintain relationships with the leadership team, parents, community members, program partners, and volunteers

Principal Network: Opportunities for collaboration and learning with other CFK partner school principals

Volunteer Support

School Beautification Day: Transforming the halls and classrooms by painting bright and engaging murals, organizing and cleaning teaching resources, and making the school an even more engaging place to learn

Build-a-Book Day: The school's youngest readers and their parents make their very own, personalized ABC books

Career Day: Introduces students to new educational and professional experiences so they can chart a path to their futures

Family Field Day: Fun games, dancing, and sports help kickstart healthy habits for our students and their families
