Pearson ABC Book Program
Inspiring Families to Read
The ABC Book program brings kindergarten students and their families together to share in the joy of reading and learn first-hand about the long-term importance that active family reading can have in a child’s cognitive development and personal growth. During the event, each family is invited to create their very own personalized book which, along with a classic Penguin book of their choice, they may take home to share after the event. In the process, parents learn simple reading techniques they can employ to help their children, such as:
- Listening to books read aloud
- Building spoken language by talking and listening
- Learning about the letters of the alphabet
- Learning about print and books
- Developing a love of books
Most importantly, the ABC Book Program gives young people and their families the opportunity to set a precedent and extend their reading experience together.
Thanks to the generosity of program sponsor Pearson PLC, the ABC Book program is provided in all four CFK schools.
