School Story
Harlem's P.S. 154, also known as the Harriet Tubman Learning Center, is on a mission: "to educate all its students in a caring, enriching environment, and to help them become critical, literate, creative thinkers, effective communicators, independent learners, and active, responsible citizens through excellence in teaching and learning." With 396 students in pre-K through grade 5, it's an ambitious goal especially given that 94.4% of its students qualify for federal lunch aid.
That's why, since June 2000, Change for Kids has been providing essential support to P.S. 154. Programs such as the Story Pirates and piano instruction, which brought the opportunity for music literacy back to the school. We are proud to partner with P.S. 154 and help continue the school's mission of challenging every child to meet the highest standards possible.
