School Story
While the school may be just three blocks north of Yankee Stadium, the challenges P.S. 73's students face are no day in the ballpark. The school regularly confronts increasing enrollment and decreasing budgets.
Determined to make a difference, Change for Kids donors began contributing to P.S. 73 in February 1999 when we learned that the school had lost its music program due to lack of funding. This left the school's twenty-five violins gathering dust -- with eager young musicians missing the opportunity to learn. That year, CFK's music program was born, and we dedicated ourselves to bringing music back to P.S. 73 -- and to making the program last.
Since then we have been able to provide P.S. 73 with an array of quality educational programs that support their vision to "nurture young people through an education of character values and instruction in the sciences, arts and civics, fostering cultured minds in this interconnected world."
