School Story

Tucked deep into Alphabet City is a small school with big heart and even bigger dreams for its students. Even though it might only be blocks from your favorite dinner spot or concert venue, P.S. 15 faces some of the biggest challenges we have seen here at CFK. 100% of their students receive free lunch and approximately 30% of their students live in temporary housing. Throughout the last school year they saw 60% of their student body come and go due to changes in housing circumstances. Every day kids greet new friends and say good-bye to not-so-old ones.

Even with a school community that is constantly in flux, Principal Sanchez and her team of teachers live by the core belief that "Every Child Matters" -- so much so that they adopted the slogan as their official school motto. The team at P.S. 15 knows that their students in particular can benefit tremendously from enrichment programs, and as partners we are excited to help make those opportunities a reality.

Did You Know?

P.S. 15 is named after Roberto Clemente who was a Puerto Rican baseball player and the first Hispanic player inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Off the field, Clemente was involved in charity work in Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries, often delivering baseball equipment and food to those in need.
