School Story
While the school may be just three blocks north of Yankee Stadium, the challenges P.S. 73’s students face are no day at the ballpark. P.S. 73 regularly confronts increasing enrollment and decreasing budgets.
Determined to make a difference, Change for Kids donors began contributing to P.S. 73 in February 1999 when the school lost its only music program due to lack of funding. This left the school's 25 violins gathering dust -- with eager young musicians missing out. That year, we dedicated ourselves to bringing music back to P.S. 73 and CFK's music program was born.
Since then we have been able to provide P.S. 73 with an array of quality educational programs that support their vision: “to nurture young people through an education of character values and instruction in the sciences, arts and civics, fostering cultured minds in this interconnected world.”
